As a child, it was difficult for me to understand the concept of Good Friday. "Wasn't that the day they crucified Jesus! How is that a good thing?" I wondered.
As an adult, I see why that day nearly two thousand years ago was so important. Good for us, bad for Jesus. And even if some of us suffer death under horrific circumstances, it can never be of the magnitude of Jesus who died with the weight of the world upon his shoulders.
But one thing we can take from sacrifice, especially in context of the pandemic that has brought fear, paranoia, greed, etc. is that it also brings light. Easter is the victory over death and all that is bad in this world, but it has taught us also that we are entrusted with light. You see it in people helping, caring and sharing with their fellowman. Good is always possible, and it begins with us.
Just one note: If you'd like to read a good fictional short story about something uplifting with the pandemic, look for Miracle of the Apocalypse available in the next few days (.99 eBook on Amazon with print book to follow).
